Editorial independence
  • Awards are never sold, sponsored or exchanged for coverage.
  • No vendor sees an edition, a shortlist or a result before publication.
  • Affiliate relationships do not influence selection, ranking or wording. Commercial links are disclosed on the pages that carry them.
  • Every winner already holds a published, dated TTML review — awards never create a judgement that the archive cannot support.
  • Corrections are made publicly on the edition page, with the update date changed.
Evidence labelling
  • Hands-on testingJudged from first-hand use of a paid or trial account by the TTML editorial team.
  • Documentation reviewJudged from vendor documentation, published pricing and verifiable public specifications rather than first-hand use.
  • Editorial analysisJudged from structured editorial analysis of the market, public evidence and our own review archive.
How winners are chosen
  1. 01We start from the full TTML review database and shortlist only products that already hold a published, dated review with a recorded evidence classification.
  2. 02Each shortlisted product is re-read against the current judging criteria during the awards cycle, and any score that no longer reflects the product is sent back for a review refresh before it can be considered.
  3. 03Award decisions are made by the editorial team against the criteria above. Where two products are close, the tie is broken by value for money and by which product we would deploy on our own work.
  4. 04Every award records how the judgement was formed — hands-on testing, documentation review or editorial analysis — and that label is derived automatically from the underlying review, not chosen by the writer.
  5. 05We do not run synthetic benchmarks, publish speed-test tables we did not produce, or reproduce vendor-supplied performance claims as if they were our own measurements.
  6. 06Affiliate relationships are disclosed and have no bearing on any award. Winners are chosen before commercial availability is checked.

Permitted
  • Use the exact badge issued for your award, unmodified.
  • Link every badge to the awards edition that issued it, as the supplied embed code does.
  • Quote the award title exactly as published, attributed to The Tool Money Lab.
  • Scale the badge proportionally and keep clear space around it.
Not permitted
  • Recolouring, cropping, rotating or re-typesetting the badge.
  • Implying a category, tier or year that was not awarded, or broadening the claim (for example "best software of 2026").
  • Using an edition seal as if it were a winner badge.
  • Using TTML branding to suggest endorsement, partnership or certification beyond the specific award.

Winners can download SVG and PNG artwork, light, dark and transparent variants, and copy HTML, Markdown or BBCode embeds from their own badge and media page, linked beside each winner above.

Press FAQs

Can a company pay to win a The Tool Money Lab award?

No. Awards are never sold, sponsored or negotiated. Every winner is selected from our own published, dated review archive, and no vendor sees an edition before it is published.

How are winners selected?

Winners are drawn only from tools that already hold a published TTML review. Each award is judged against the edition's weighted criteria, and every judgement is labelled with the evidence basis behind it.

May we use the award badge in marketing?

Yes. Winners may use the badge issued for their specific award, unmodified, and it must link to the awards edition that issued it. Badges cannot imply a category, tier or year that was not awarded.

Can we quote the awards in a press release?

Yes, with attribution to The Tool Money Lab and a link to the relevant awards edition. Please quote award titles exactly as published and do not paraphrase them into broader claims.

Who do we contact about the awards?

Email press@thetoolmoneylab.com for press enquiries, interview requests, badge questions or corrections. We reply to press enquiries within two business days.
