Its defaults lean towards composition, lighting and colour choices that read as intentional, which means a non-designer can produce a usable image far more often than with models that require heavy prompt engineering. The trade-off is control: when you need a specific layout, exact brand colours or a literal reproduction of a reference, competing tools with stronger conditioning and editing controls will get you there with less fighting.

The web editor has substantially closed the usability gap left by the Discord-only era. Inpainting, outpainting, panning, upscaling, style references and character references are all available in a normal interface, which makes Midjourney viable for a marketing team rather than only for enthusiasts.

Commercial rights: read this before you ship
