• You are the platform team. Hosting, PHP versions, updates, backups and security are your responsibility, not the vendor's.
• The free core is a starting point, not the finished product. Price the add-ons or bundle you will realistically need.
• Performance depends on your stack. Logged-in student traffic defeats most page caching; cheap shared hosting will show.
• Video hosting is not included. Serve video from a video platform, not from your own web server.
• Tax and payment compliance sits with you. Hosted platforms that act as merchant of record handle VAT and sales tax for you; a self-hosted LMS generally does not.
• Plugin conflicts are a real category of risk. Test add-ons, theme and builder together on staging before a launch.
